The Local Joint in Fairview

Excellent food and service! We’re here on vaca and hope to go back before we head home. Wish we had a Local Joint in Ohio.

Yum! We took some out of town family for a traditional fish get dinner. It was very reminiscent of the Friday night fish fry that is so popular in Upstate NY. The fish was golden and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The Brussel Sprouts were a great appetizer. The servers were attentive, even on a very busy night. We will be back to try some of the other unexpected menu items in this unique spot.

The food is very good quality and I like coming here for brunch, so I'll give 4 stars. Lately, there was been no wait. My complaint is that if I want to substitute something healthy, like a small salad, for calorific fried potatoes or grits with butter and cream, I'm charged an additional $1.25 on a $9.50 fancy egg sandwich. Not only does the restaurant probably save time by giving me salad, but money. I can't imagine a few spinach leaves and a cherry tomato cost most than grits or fried potatoes, especially if you include labor. Why should I be charged extra if I eliminated one item for another because I want to be healthy? AND on more than one occasion, the wait staff did NOT warn me about the upcharge! Luckily, my partner remembered this past time because I almost made the same mistake. The waitress was NOT empathetic to my request.Maybe there would be longer lines of the staff was more accommodating.

The Friday night fish fry was great! Michelle was my waitress and just a delight to speak with. Homemade cake was sinful!

We are in Fairview for a much-needed change of scenery. The chef gets huge props from us, as all the food here is delicious, with touches like goat cheese on stone ground grits (which are far and away thicker, heartier and better than regular grits), and cherry pecan mascarpone with local challa bread French toast, and fried egg sandwich with tomato, bacon and avocado on toast. Not to mention there's wait service for outdoor seating as well as indoor, and staff are all wearing masks.

This place was suggested by friends and family who live in the area. I am glad they suggested it as the service was friendly and the food was yummy. We did not have to wait long for a table and the food was served quickly and hot. I will definitely revisit here when in the area again.

Fantastic food combined with a friendly staff in a relaxed diner atmosphere. Kind of like....the love child of Waffle House and Tupelo Honey.....easy to love environment with great food.

Lots of interesting food choices good fast service also. It was busy but food came out fast and hot. Buffalo cheese with chips were great.

We like this place, but didn't the first time we went. I forget what we had for lunch that first day but it wasn't a winner. Then we tried the flat iron steak for dinner and we're completely won over!

Although this spot is attached to a gas station the food was excellent! Fresh ingredients cooked together with fabulous taste. The waitress was sweet and attentive. The cooks were working hard behind the counter. I had the local favorite omelette....delicious. I highly recommend this eatery.

The Local Joint is an excellent local diner connected to a gas station and small strip mall. It serves a large breakfast menu into the afternoon, a lunch menu of great burgers and sandwiches, homemade desserts, wine, and beer. Friendly service rounds out the local diner feel.

Burgers were good and service wasn't bad. Were out of the specials and almost all the advertised appetizers .

First, I would eat there again. The prices were reasonable and my Western Burger was good. I would improve the restaurant by making service faster. We waited 20 minutes for our food and we were the only ones in the restaurant.Second, the Western Burger was closer to a drink and than it was a meal; It was quite messy. We would have to drive from West Asheville to eat at the local joint again, but with a few improvements, we would be willing to make the drive. Let me close by saying I would eat there again.

Big bear is where it's at. If you don't get the big bear then what are you doing with your life? Clearly you're not enjoying one of the best meals ever, right? Do yourself a favor and head on over to the Local Joint to get the big bear!

Went for dinner and had the turkey burger. Food was decent but seemed a little overpriced. Service was a little slow but friendly and exactly what I would want from a place like this. The food took a long time to come out and it was definitely not busy. Would probably not go back unless I didn't have any other options. Driving an extra 15 min into Asheville should provide better alternatives.

I really liked their dishes and customer service, fantastic location to my apartment. The workers are always very nice. Will come back again.

A hidden gem fo sure. Driving by, you might think it is just a run-of-the-mill diner attached to a gas station. But you would be sadly mistaken. The food and staff were awesome. The food was sophisticated for "comfort food". By that I mean, it was a little eclectic but not so much as to distract from my comfort. In short go there, and you will be impressed. I was lucky enough to happen by on a Monday, which is Meatloaf Monday. Had that amd loved every bite. My wife had the burger and agrees that this place is great!

Best kept secret in the Asheville area. Gas station-connected restaurant with outstanding locally-sourced food, craft brews, friendly service and can't-miss MegaMosas. Yay!

I work next door and this by far was the best steak dinner I have had since I moved here. Great cooks friendly staff as well

This evening I got a Togo order heading out to work for the night, I was told over the phone my food would be ready in 15 minutes and that it was, the Togo server was very kind but the food was absolutely horrible. By the time I got to where i was going (5 minutes from the store) my bun was absolutely soggy, the cheese was terrible I didn’t even have my bbq sauce for my burger. Everything just tasted disgusting. Their breakfast is definitely better than dinner but this was sad.

My goto breakfast place, today I had lunch. Fantastic burger and the fries were perfect. As always the service was spot on, do yourself a favor and give this place a try.

Love this place. Great food, good selection & casual vibe. Wasn’t busy during my last visit so the extended wait - even with 3 servers present- was inexplicable.
